Hay War Memorial has an active Ex-students association which holds meetings regularly throughout the year. Reunions are held every year to coinside with the School Captains' Investure Assembly. School Captains from 50 years prior lead the oath and address the school. The War Cry challenge between the Ex-students and the current Year 11 & 12 students is also carried out during this assembly. Major reunions are held every 5 years.
