Hay War Memorial High School was opened on ANZAC Day, 1923. It was built as the town's war memorial to honour the extraordinary commitment made by Hay and district citizens to the First World War. Our students are encouraged to participate in Anzac Day events. 6:00am - Dawn Service at Cenotaph at the Library Complex in Lachlan St. Short address followed by the Ode, Last Post and Reveille. Pilgrimage to Cemetery for reciting of the Ode and wreath laying. Gunfire Breakfast at Hay Services Club straight after Dawn Service - small cost. 10:00am - Form up for March. Students are asked to wear full winter school uniform. March commences along Lachlan, Moppett and Pine Street. A break in the parade to allow tributes to be laid at the Boer War Memorial, then parade moves off to the Hay War Memorial High School - Spirit of Anzac Centre for the main assembly at 11:00am. Mayor School Captains and Guest Speakers. Dawn Service Guest Speaker - Formal Army Corporal, Ben Brettschneider. Main Service Guest Speaker - RAAF Corporal, Leigh Brettschneider. All Welcome.

School development days are used by schools to build on the knowledge and skills of our teachers, school leaders and school administrative support staff through a targeted professional learning program. Students do not attend on this day.

Important School News

Dear Families, Friends and community

I was contacted by the Director of Education to inform me of the appointment of a new permanent Principal to Hay War Memorial High School. Mrs Joanne St Hill will commence as the Principal of our school beginning in Term 2 2024.

Mrs St Hill is an experienced educator and will be coming to us from Jame Fallon High School in Albury. I would like to congratulate Joanne on her appointment and I know our staff and community look forward to working with her. I know that she is looking forward to joining our school and community and I know that she will receive a warm welcome when she arrives.
